October 2007
Members of Manilow's Modems supported the SimiSu Aktion Club in raising over $1,100.00 as part of American Cancer Society’s 2007 Relay For Life (October 6-7).
The SimiSu Aktion Club is a community service group for adult citizens who live with disabilities. The members strive to return to their communities the benefits, help, and caring they have received, as well as develop important skills in the process. Only receiving their charter in January 2007, the club has already held several fundraising events, donating monies to the 2007 Kansas Tornado victims and postage for care packages sent to Iraq and Afghanistan. They also participated in park clean up projects, served breakfast at the Senior Citizens’ Center and handed out bottles of water and protein bars at this year's Simi Valley MS Walk.
Relay For Life® is a fun-filled overnight event designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer in our community. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. At the event, survivorship is celebrated and money is raised to help the American Cancer Society in its mission to save lives, help those who have been touched by cancer, and empower individuals to fight back. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day cancer will be eliminated.
Thank you for making a difference!
